Characterization: Identity - Unity
Orlando Community Common Design
Project Overview
This design of a community common has careful consideration of the needs and interests of the surrounding community. The main goal of this design is to create a space that fosters a sense of unity and belonging while also providing diverse function programs that cater to the different identities within the community.
The community common design considers the context and surroundings of the site, including factors such as the local climate, topography, and cultural context in the central business district, downtown Orlando, Florida, and even larger context.
While generating the massing of the building, I create a sense of openness and transparency by using large windows, glass walls, and other design elements that allow visitors to see the building from the outside for a sense of invitation and encourage visitors to enter and explore the space.
The interior design of the community common is carefully planned to provide diverse function programs that cater to the different identities within the community by providing spaces for socializing, cultural events, education, performance, and other activities. The design should also prioritize accessibility, ensuring all community members can access and use the space
