Variation: Uniformity - Personality
A Small Residential Building Design in Wuxi, Jiangsu
At the beginning of the 21st century, China was one of the world's fastest developing countries. Rapid economic development has led to an upsurge in infrastructure construction, resulting in spacious highways and elaborate public buildings everywhere in China today. However, under the light of rapid development, there remains the darkness of savage growth. In the county towns of the Yangtze River Delta, almost at the heart of China, unplanned and undesigned homes built by unsophisticated farmers to their preference are still fulfilling the street.
The project focuses on incorporating the strengths of Bowwow Studio's project and the successful experience of Japan in East Asia into the residential design of a small town in China. Since the surrounding environment of the site is in a relatively backward state, the generation of the building skin still refers to the simple aesthetic style of rural China to echo the surrounding buildings and avoid destroying the town's integrity.
